Italian bust (likely Tuscany) bust of St. Bartholomew, 2nd half of the 14th century, 16 1/2" high and 13" wide at the base.
The extremeties of the base have been cutdown - likely due to worm damage, and a new insert of wood also is along bottom of the base.
The bust is in overall good condition:- there is minor flaking and blistering on the front of the cloak, some restoration has been done in head rear hollow right and left hand side lip - refilled and a thin fibreglass mat applied to restore worming (approx. 1" wide by 6" long).
Purchased in New York, 1988 by the present owner.
