Oil painting signed Shostak, 28" x 42", "It's time to go for a balloon ride". The frame dimensions are 36" x 50". Peter Shostak was born and raised on a farm in northeastern Alberta. His early interest in art inspired him to major in art at the University of Alberta, where, in 1965, he graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree. He then taught at the junior secondary level but continued his own studies and painting as well. In 1969 he obtained a graduate degree in Art Education from the University of Alberta and took a teaching position at the University of Victoria. He remained there as Associate Professor of Art Education until 1979, when decided to leave teaching and pursue a career as an artist, devoting all his time to oil painting and silkscreen painting. Peter Shostak's work is shown in a number of galleries across Canada and forms part of many private and corporate collections. He presently has his studios in Victoria, BC, where he resides with his family.
