Untitled Normal Page

This painting is typical of the ethereal young women Margaret Keane painted 40 years ago when living in San Francisco's Bohemian North Beach where she became known for her commissioned portraits of celebrities such as Kim Novak, Red Skelton and Natalie Wood. After two decades in Hawai'i, during which her paintings of innocent, wide-eyed children and animals became popular world wide, she now resides in California. Her oils are owned by National museums, Heads of State and collectors in many countries.

Please refer to the New York Times Magazine (May 23, 1999), which features 7 pages of Margaret Keane photos and recent paintings. The articles are called An Eye for An Eye, Footnotes and Peachy Keane.
