18th century cosmography manuscript in latin.
This is a bound in-8 manuscript (6-1/4" x 7-3/8") of
191 handwritten pages in latin that dates from approximately 1767. It is entitled `Tractatus
de Cosmographia` and contains twelve ink drawings and three engravings. The volume was
written by several persons (see pictures of written pages for different handwritings)
and studies the terrestrial sphere, geography, hydrography and the solar system.
There are also exercise problems and their solutions. This was most likely a course taken
and shared by several students and it originates from pre-Revolutionary france.
The volume is in good general condition but the front and back covers show traces of use.
