Oil painting signed Meeuwis v Buuren, 23 3/4" x 39 1/2", "The Atlantic".

Purchased September 2, 1959, from Gebroeders Koch, Hoogstraat 7, Den Haag, Netherlands.

This Dutch artist, born Rotterdam, Dec. 22, 1902, lived and worked there. A student of the Rotterdam academy of Fine Arts under J.G. Heyberg, H. E. Mees and A. P. LaRiviere. He made a study trip to Norway but painted mostly seascapes, landscape dunes and still lifes.
